.Warning. Make sure all that your drawing is on a different layer than 'Defpoints' layer. This is because whe you do the LAYDELcommand it will delete the layer from your liberary as well as your drawing that has that layer. I have a simple question: why the name of defpoint layer is 'defpoint'? Why we don't use 'unprinted' layer instead?
AutoCAD is a world leader in computer-aided design (CAD), and users around the world use this powerful software to communicate their design intent in many different disciplines. In this course, Shaun Bryant takes you through how to work with AutoCAD to create construction drawings that accurately communicate your design intent.

Shaun explains how to use the tools and features within AutoCAD to develop drawings that clearly express the sizes of the objects you want to build. He covers how to develop a title block, set up attributes, set up layers to industry standards, develop plans and elevations, set up viewports, and more. Shaun Bryant is an Autodesk Certified Instructor in both AutoCAD and Revit Architecture.Shaun has sales, support, and technical expertise, CAD managerial skills, and 30 years of industry experience. He has worked as a consultant, trainer, manager, and user, all of which helped him develop a diverse skillset.
His career has included 18 years as a CAD, BIM, and facilities management consultant and trainer, with the earlier years of his CAD career in sales, pre-sales, and business development. He also has industry experience as a CAD manager/user. Shaun has been a director on the board of Autodesk User Group International (AUGI), and he is also the author of the reputable CAD blog, Not Just Cad! He is a seasoned Autodesk University (AU) speaker and was the AutoCAD expert at the inaugural Autodesk University London in June 2017.
He is also an Autodesk University speaker mentor, AutoCAD Influencer, and a member of the Autodesk Expert Elite program. Shaun lives in Norwich in the UK, and is the owner and director of CADFMconsultants Limited. Related courses. Welcome- Instructor We're staying in our Using Layer Standards.dwg file, and you can see I've left it in the same state as it was in the previous video, I've still got those viewports there, the title block, and so on. Now, we're looking at our layers, and the layers that we should be using in our construction drawings in AutoCAD.
Now, we talked about in the previous video, layers that should not plot. So, for example, our viewports layer, we can set that in the Layer Properties Manager not to plot. Now, the good thing is there is one particular layer in AutoCAD that automatically knows that it should not plot. When you're annotating a drawing such as adding dimensions to a drawing you use what I called origin points, so those are the two points that you click on for example to create a linear dimension and you're measuring between those two points. Those two points are known as defpoints or definition points. Now, let's have a look at the Layer Proprieties Manager again.
